week 9 - Forced connection
In the above photo, I drew 6 different
types of pencil and computer mouse
and i would like to only focus on a few of
them. The first is the
1) - Passionate pencil.
I feel that something / someone who's
passionate will keep learning and doing
what they love just like the pencil that i drew,
it does not a limit of where it would
eventually stop growing
And the second one would be
2. the sad computer mouse
that was detached from it's power
source, which is why it "felt sad"
I feel that just like things, we
humans cannot lose our motivation
which in this sense is the power source.
And in this above photo,
i would like to focus on
3. the brave clock
Personally, I feel that Brave means
being able to protect yourself,
and of course others too.
Hence i interpreted brave as
a clock with it's hand as knives
I find that in other to be brave, you
need to learn to protect yourself and
stand up for yourself during injustice
then you will realised things that you're
actually able to do is far greated than you thought.
4. - the sad mug
i actually drew the mug with stains,
just like how after using for a
mug for a long time there are
usually coffee or tea stains
depending on what you drink.
however what i'm trying to convey is that,
i feel that we humans, are all stained by
past mistakes that we did,
and wrong choices that we make.
but let's not be afraid to embrace them
or even embrace our imperfection.
let our stain like mistake be a reminder
to not make the same mistakes over again.
and even learn from where we fall.
5. - Greedy candle
In the above photo, i actually drew a picture
of a multiple candle stand holder
which can support 3 candle on each side.
However this candle holder will topple if
either side of it is too heavy,
which i find that the candle stand might be too greedy.
6. - the passionate plug
I drew the plug with tangled
wire at the end,
because i feel that if you're
passionate about something that you do
you will do it no matter how
difficult it gets, so i find that
if you're truly passionate about something
difficult situations will not be hindrance
to what you want to do.

week 8 - Analogical Thinking // Wednesday, 1 October 2014
23:42 |
Have you ever wondered why some structures, things or even building seems to be smiling. If you want to put it in a scientific way, its a symptom called Pareidolia. It means its a psychological phenomenon involving a stimulus often an image or sound being interpreted with a meaning. E.g. Seeing faces or animals in the cloud. However to put it in my own way, I think it's just the use of
IMAGINATION.
I think in life, we just need more imagination when it comes to the way we view things or think about things. Then only will we be able to Think out of the box. So here are some of the images that i gathered, which I feel look like they have emotions with just a little bit of imagination.
Does this basin actually look like it's in shock?
Because it definitely does to me.
What about the washing machine?
To me It looks like a washing machine with a silly face As the red shirt was half hanging out of the washing machine.
And here are the textures on a piece of wood
which seems to have the features of a bear.
This definietely look like the world's happiest plane!
I personally find this very funny!
It look like the door is actually the mouth
of the wall.
Does this look like a chicken to you?
smiling pots.
Happy to be used for cooking maybe?
I see a Skull in the middle of the flower,
I find that it's kind of appropriate since
the flower is wilting which also means death.
And skulls are often used as representatives
of death or darkness.
Does the car seat belt actually look like
it's sticking it's tongue out?
I definitely thought so!
Angry/depressed looking alarm clock.
True enough, we as humans
don't like alarm clock either
since it just means we can't stay in bed longer.
Maybe this alarm clock just got
tired of people hitting it's head?

10/9/14 - Week 7 <Analogical thinking.> Example of effective analogical thinking 1) How people thought of making paper by using wood Before paper was created, people wrote on things like animal skins, papyrus, palm tree and plant barks. So how did the invention of paper came about? Back then people used paper like materials like papyrus, palm tree, parchment and vellum. However these were derived from raw materials which were expensive or in limited supply. It also required a lot of work to produce something satisfactory. However a man named Cai lun created paper using mulberry, bast fibre along with fishnets and hemp waste. All these materials were readily available and could be produced in any quantity in moderate cost. It was said that the making of paper was inspired by the wasps and bees. 2) The japan shinkansen bullet train that was inspired by the kingfisher. High speed trains can cause headaches because 1 "as they drive through, air pressure builds up in waves and, when the noise emerges, can produce a shotgun-like thunderclap heard for a quarter mile." Thus a Japanese bird-watching engineer Eiji Nakatsu took it's inspiration from a kingfisher. A kingfisher is a bird that despite plunging itself into the water at a high speed does not make a single noise. He redesigned the front of the train and created 50- foot long steel kingfisher beak for the train which solved the noise pollution problem caused by high speed trains. 3) how boats got inspired by sharks 2 "sharks stay remarkably clear of algae and other fellow travelers. That’s largely a function of their unique skin, covered with microscopic patterns called dentricles, which help reduce drag." Inspired by the shark's fin, NASA scientist copied the patterns to create drag-reducing pattern called riblets this was coated on the hull of a sailboat to reduced drag,as well as help planes and windmills to reduced drag and conserved energy.
